Hydro-JULES: Frontiers in Land Surface and Hydrological Prediction

Hydro-JULES set out the second phase of the project this week by holding webinar on Thursday 28th November. Hydro-JULES: Frontiers in Land Surface and Hydrological Predictions was attended by over 100 experts and stakeholders to find out about the latest developments in the NERC funded project. Project members from UKCEH, BGS, NCAS and NCEO spoke about a range of topics, from data assimilation, to ground water modelling and the DataLabs online platform which supports access to the Hydro-JULES model.  Presenters took the opportunity to highlight some of the successes from the first 5 years of the project as well as looking forward to the upcoming work over the next 4 years.

This webinar also showcased the Hydro-JULES Education programme and the opportunities available to hydrology enthusiasts, students, and researchers. Guest presentations came from Cristina Charlton-Perez, one of the Met Office’s Senior Scientists, who is currently working with the Hydro-JULES project through the Researcher Exchange Programme (REP), and Danny Cooper, University of East Anglia, who returned to talk about his experience of the Hydro-JULES Internship at UKCEH in summer 2024.
