Robert Johnson is the first Hydro-JULES intern to co-author a published paper

We’re thrilled to celebrate Robert Johnson, a 2022 Hydro-JULES intern, as the first intern to co-author a published paper in the Hydrology and Earth System Sciences journal.
The study, "Optimising ensemble streamflow predictions with bias correction and data assimilation techniques" was published in March 2025. It explores the effectiveness of bias correction (BC) and data assimilation (DA) techniques in improving hydrological model predictions.
Robert co-authored the paper alongside UKCEH/ Hydro-JULES Research Scientists Maliko Tanguy (UKCEH, ECMWF) , Michael Eastman (UKCEH, Met Office) , Amulya Chevuturi, Eugene Magee, Elizabeth Cooper, Katie Facer-Childs, and Jamie Hannaford.

This achievement highlights the valuable contributions of Hydro-JULES interns to cutting-edge hydrological research. Congratulations, Robert!
